The fire sparked, and burned until it became all consuming. Buffy felt it, Spike felt it, and then it took his life. Buffy shed a tear before picking up the glowing amulet, and sticking it in her pocket. Spike was gone, he had given up everything, and it was only in those last few moments that she realized why. The trinket grew heavy in her pocket as the guilt flushed over her. She walked up through the cave and crawled up and out until she reached the school. It was rattled at best, nothing a few capable handymen couldn’t repair. Her friends had escaped, and she met up with them outside. It took her a few moments for her eyes to adjust to the blinding light. She was rushed by those she cared about most. She could feel them latching on to her. Their fear had subsided, they had survived, or at least almost all of them. She looked out at her world. They had beaten back the first, and they had triumphed. Clearly no one really believed her when she said they would win. They believed her now. Now all that was left was to go home, and try to rebuild the city. Within a week’s time people began to steadily move back into their homes, stores re-opened, and the people resumed their position and pretended not to notice as the mysterious deaths and disappearances picked back up again. The advertising for sunny Sunnydale, it was just out of the way, low housing cost, and less then a days drive to the beach. This was good news for the economy, bad news for the slayer and her friend. People slowly began to swarm closer and closer toward the mouth of hell, unaware of the danger. They might as well be sending people down the highway to hell.
Angel received a mysterious package in the mail, and was none too happy to have Spike suddenly back in his life. He maintained his position at Wolfram and Hart, his attention directed on bringing down the black thorn. However it was a foolish idea. Wolfram and Hart did not take to kindly to being challenged. It had been over a year since Angel had, had any contact with Buffy or anyone from Sunnydale, but that was all about to change. A gate had opened to keep Angel distracted, and away from the members of the black thorn. He had no idea what had came out of the gate. He managed to slay a dragon before giving up the losing battle. He was several men down, and running low on hope. He had no choice but to sneak out of the city and seek refugee from the scoobies. With no idea how they would be receipted, only knowing that he needed to warn the slayer of what was coming.
The scoobies are about to be challenged like never before…..
