WE ARE HERE!
It is September 2009 and trouble is underway. The aliens known as the 456 have demanded that the Earth give over 10% of the population of children, and the Prime Minister has decided to talk with these aliens and start making the deal. Naturally Torchwood aren’t going to stand for this, but Frobisher had already started to deal with them. Every individual involved in the earlier 1965 visit were killed, and that was to include Captain Jack Harkness. A bomb was placed within his stomach and just after Gwen Cooper found out she was pregnant, they found out he had a bomb. He forced Gwen and Ianto out of the base and they escaped as the base blew up.
Now they are facing one of their worst threats yet and the Doctor is nowhere to be seen. They’re hoping against hope that the Doctor will appear, but things are already underway and the Doctor is nowhere to be seen. Lois Habiba is proving useful as she does her own little looking into the whole thing, coming across far more than she thought plausible.
We’re not just fighting the flood, we’re fighting time itself. And I’M GOING TO WIN!
Meanwhile, the Doctor is out avoiding his prophesised death, doing all sorts of things he would not normally do, had he been in full control and with a companion by his side. Like Donna once said, he needs someone to stop him. The Doctor hasn’t become a bad person or anything; on the contrary, he’s helping people like he always does. But he’s not on a good route, he’s self-destructing. Losing Rose, ruining Martha’s life, watching as Astrid died to save the Earth, Donna being so brilliant and forgetting all of that, Jack living a tortured life of immortality…
He’s scared; he doesn’t want to die. Not just yet. The Time Lords are no more and he needs to live on. He knows he should face what must happen with courage and dignity, but the other part doesn’t want to let go. However, strange things are happening; he has started to feel things in the air, the things that are changing. Something is coming through, but he does not know where, how or why, but he is trying to track it down between silly jaunts to random places.
This was the day... the Time Lords returned. For Gallifrey!
Somewhere out there, the Time Lords are trying to make their come back. The only thing is, is that they need the Master to bring them back, by summoning them out of the Time Lock. But will the Master scheme up another evil plan or will he take the Doctor’s outstretched hand (metaphorically speaking) and join the land of the good? Though the Time Lords may not have to rely on the Master in order to get what they want; with Frobisher having ordered the destruction of Torchwood three’s hub, he’s unwittingly caused a disturbance in the rift, which was already fragile to begin with. It is starting to tamper with time, making it possible for the Time Lock to be breached and possibly even broken, which would mean not only the Time Lords, but the Daleks’ return to the universe. One can only hope the Time Lock doesn’t break, atleast too much.
But with the bad comes the good, as such dead comrades as Owen Harper and Toshiko Sato get brought back into the land of the living through the power of the rift, though not just the good dead are coming through. Suzie Costello has come back into the living as well and needless to say she didn’t exactly leave herself a good name. What does this entail? Will once defeated enemies rise from the dead as well?
Not only are the dead coming back to life, but the once secure barriers between the universes are being affected. Rose, who wants back into her real universe again, finds herself able to return, after realising that no matter how much she loved the Meta-Doctor, he wasn’t her Doctor. John Smith, as he tended to call himself, was both understanding and upset by this, understanding because he’d feel the same way in her situation, upset because he loved her.
Will they be the only ones to come through?
Does the Doctor have more to worry about than his impending death or are his senses just getting lost in the madness? And if the Time Lords do come back, what will this mean for the universe?
