"Of Cardiff." Quinn specified after a moment of consideration. All planets may have a north but direction was not a widely lauded concept for creatures of the time vortex. If you needed a direction to describe the vortex as it would be "dizzy", because that would be how you felt if you tried to find up there. She had reverted back to humanoid form now for comfort, though might flee at the slightest indication of attack.

Fair enough, the pinstriped Time Lord mused. He rocked on the balls of his feet as he could not keep still for a moment. The Doctor was always moving around wither it be his brain or simply fidgeting around. He was on the move constantly. He looked up at the sky for a moment and pondered before he forced back on the alien female before him. "Ah, so Wales then?" he asked double checking. The Doctor liked having all the details right in order. Getting them right and in order was one of the things he did best. Actually he was good at a great deal of things and had a vast amount of information stored in his head. Many a time he proclaimed he had too much substance up there-- which is why he loved surprises as they kept him on his toes.[/blockquote]

"It is unimportant." said Quinn flatly, then took a deep breath. If he was the kind of creature the images had shown her he was more powerful than her in her weaker state. Timelords had subjugated the species they called TARDIS, a species not so far from her own in the way they lived inside and outside the vortex. Quinn briefly had an image of a human in a broad hat lassoing cattle, but now the Doctor was the cowfellow and she was going to be the roped cattle.
"You should be aware that though I was birthed here I have no intention to stay. I also intend no threat to any of the creatures here, especially the humans. So if you don't mind, I would rather not be chased." she told him firmly, hoping to resolve this with reason.

The Doctor ruffed his hair and meant every word that came from his lips. He didn't want to lock her up and throw away the key. Nor was he the sort of person to go about doing the entire oh its alien lets test it! The was how the Doctor viewed Torchwood. A part of him wondered why she was so scared and fragile as something had to have effected her. She appeared naive and influenced by someone or something. His mind raced thinking deeply. The Doctor soon grew lost in his thoughts.
"Do you like chips?" he asked after a long while passed. "Come on then, chips on me. Their not poisonous... don't worry." [/blockquote]

"I was trying trying to help... I don't mean... I didn't mean to offend you. I'm sorry this regeneration is a bit rude. I can't fix that. I do-- I would like to be your friend though."
When that blonde man had warned her in the alley that aliens were hunted here, it wasn't a new concept for her. Since she had come to Cardiff, Quinn had ran from everything, because that was all she knew. She knew if she let humans get close enough to scrutinize her for a long period of time, they would want to catch her and examine her even more closely, and in some cases experiment on her like some sort of lab mouse. She liked humans because they were interesting, especially children, but she knew long exposer to the same human was not very safe.
The word "friend" caught her off-guard, however. Quinn knew what a friend was; when she had first started out she had spent some time in orphanages pretending to be a human child. Children who were friends would play together and share toys and talk to one another. They didn't attack or experiment on one another; in fact to do such a thing would generally mean the end of a friendship.
Quinn knew she could really use a friend right now. Since she left the orphanages to avoid suspicion, she had become lonelier than ever as she didn't even have human company. That was why her flight down here had been so desperate: she longed intensely for someone of her own kind to keep her company. Though a Time Lord was certainly not the best company for a time-vortex being to keep, it was the only offer she was getting.
Quinn weighed the idea heavily, being in desperate need of company but also wary of traps. Her childish face peered around the corner with the cautious expression of a wild animal.

"Do you like chips?" he asked after a long while passed."Come on then, chips on me. They're not poisonous... don't worry."
Quinn hesitated, but came out slowly, hands folded politely behind her back. Her every movement warned him that she might flee if he tried anything fun.
She had mostly come out from curiosity, unable to understand what he said. She had heard of "chips" before, and knew they were widely lauded by the population of the island, but had never actually seen one or found out it's purpose.
Quinn circled around the Doctor in puzzlement, giving him wide berth as she did. Finally she gave up.
"Are they too small to see?" she queried, still analyzing him. She didn't see anything on him really, except clothing, which she had a loose enough understanding to know they weren't "chips".

Hearing his stomach growl he knew it was past lunch time. Yet he had other, more pressing matters of business to conquer before he could waltz off and satisfy his hunger craving. His body was messaging him saying it needed fuel yet he again he was putting people--- well aliens in this case before his own needs. The Doctor was always doing that because he had an addiction to helping people (or aliens in this case). Besides it was another alien to encounter with and lend a helping hand to. New faces were good, especially with a broken TARDIS taking away from the chance of meeting new begins and traveling anywhere or where in the universe. He missed that more than anything else. It was torture being stuck here.
Grinning like a Cheshire Cat the Doctor seemed pleased as he was making progress with the alien. "Chips? Naw... their .... well let me show you." he said and with that he pulled her along to the nearest chippy in sight. Moments later the Doctor was ordering two helpings of chips and handed her a hot tray with some malt vinegar on the top. "The brownish stuff is malt vinegar. Its sorta bitter. But a good sort of bitter. Try it." Then he demonstrated by taking a chip in his hands and eating it. "I only wish they came in newspaper like they used to." [/blockquote]

Quinn was startled when the Doctor grabbed at her, but in her confusion solidified instead of becoming more gaseous. This allowed him to drag her off in a daze, and suddenly they were in a little shop full of humans. Quinn inwardly cringed at how many eyes could be on her at any given second, putting on the pressure for her to remain as solid as possible. The Doctor disappeared for a moment when she wasn't paying attention, then returned with a flat object with something on top radiating heat energy. She could see the waves of energy rolling off of it into the air.
"The brownish stuff is malt vinegar. Its sorta bitter. But a good sort of bitter. Try it."
Quinn looked at the object, which to her seemed to glow like dying coals. What was she supposed to do with this? The Doctor must have sensed her confusion, because he picked up a piece and ate it.
Oh! So that was it! Quinn had tried 'eating' before when she was at the orphanages, but found it rather tedious. Why spend all that time masticating and digesting when one could merely thrive off the energy that gave one being? Or at the very most absorb the energy directly. Earth had some creatures who did that, she knew, but they were called plants and seemed to be generally looked down upon by the other species.
It had been awhile since Quinn had needed to eat for others visual enjoyment, but she picked a piece now between her fingers, a little chunk marked with brown sauce. She inspected it.
"Did they come in newspaper before?"
[Do we need to shift the thread to a different subforum now?]

Again he wasn't thinking. He hadn't thought about how Quinn might feel about being dragged in public. Then again the Doctor never thought about those things. His companions usually bluntly pointed them out to him. The Doctor was too much involved in the other details. What was going on. He saw everything as well as feeling the Earth's turn below his converses. It wasn't his fault, this version of the Doctor was apt to being hyper and not noticing or thinking about other things like other people's (or Aliens in this particular case) feelings.
Nibbling on his bag of chips he noticed that Quinn had not touched her bag. He frowned. How could she not--- oh, then it hit him in the head. She was of an energy race and he had given her an object that needed digestion before it became energy. That was basic biology. The Doctor now felt guilty about taking her for chips. Completely and utterly guilty. He felt as if it were his entire fault. Then again, in a way it was as the whole thing was his idea in the first place.
"Then again... you really don't have to eat it. I forgot, silly me." He smiled apologetically. "Yes, back in the forties or fifties... oh I don't remember it was sometime back. Maybe the sixties..... hmm oh where was I?" He stood thinking for a while "Oh well, never mind then. Look if your not gonna eat those I will."[/blockquote]
