It's the Summer of 2008, six months after the uprising of certain sections of the mutant community culminating in the incident at Worthington Labs on Alcatraz Island. Thousands died on the island on both sides of the divide but the President chose the way of peace rather than a counter strike against mutant kind.
The Cure did not work. Mutants all over the United States were regaining their lost powers. Worthington Labs continued their work, initially in secret so as not to cause another incident. But word soon got out and mutants and human rights activists began to campaign for an end to this tampering with genetics.
Mutants began to take affirmative action, attacking humans seemingly at random as a way to show there disgust with the Cure research still going on. Behind the scenes many Government officials had persuaded the President to agree to a new project; one that would ensure the safety of humanity. That was Project Wide Awake. Overseeing this project is Federal Agent Henry Peter Gyrich and scientist Dr Bolivar Trask.
Only the X-Men stand between the Humans and the Mutant threat. Where will you stand?
