One year.
One year since she last saw the grey sky, and dead-looking terrain of her homeworld. One year since she last saw her parents. One year since the attack. And one year since she fled the boring life she once lived. Now she was here. Good old planet Earth.
Of course she never intended to come here. Oh, no. She set her desires on other planets, far beyond her reach. But now, the Fioran Device; the handheld object that took years to accemble, was no longer working as it should be. Somehow, something screwed-up it's transmitter, making the trip somewhat of a malfunction. She was lucky enough to arrive in one piece, let alone having it to work. She barely have time for the final testing of the device, until disaster struck and took a chance to flee.
Now, for the past year, she had been living on Earth. Blending in with the humans, as easily at it appeared. On the outside, she was a mere human. The inside, however, was a while combination of living tissue and circuit boards. No one knew about this, thankfully. As far as she coudl keep a secret, until she can get the device working again. She still had desires to travel the universe, but she was young in her Lyran lifespan. Aeris had plenty on time.
She leaned against the railing that guarded the serene bay. There was a peaceful quality about it. Something that barely was in her homeworld of advanced technology, pollution and noise all hours of the day. Earth was as quiet as she could see. Clasping her hands, she stared at the morning sun. Unfortunatly for her, she still didn't have a job. Lately, and regrettably, she had been altering human money-machines, or ATMs, and taking as much money as she needed. It didn't take her long to process how to use it, since she regulary tapped into wireless signals to get the information she needed. That's why it was so easy for her to blend in to this world. She learned so much knowledge just to get by and survive.
Now she needed something else to occupy her mind.

Earth, he was stuck here. Damit, he hated it as much as he loved the place. He loved Humans; don’t get him wrong about that. The Doctor adored the Human race. They were wonderful. Void he even fell in love with a few of them. He wanted to go travel the stars like any good Time Lord would. He wanted to visit old friends and make new ones and above all he wanted to take Rose traveling with him again. That was the plan that was how it was supposed to be. That was how it was going to be until two things happened. One he lost Rose, and two when she came back to him his TARDIS just had to stop working of all things. Kicking an abandoned can he felt a little better—no not really it was just something to pass the time. Time seemed anything but relative to him now. It seemed to go on and on and on without ever stopping when in fact he could see it all in his mind.
If you knew what was out there before the reaches of the Milky Way Galaxy, you would understand how much the Doctor was missing out on. Earth was tiny spec on the cosmic scale. It was nothing, filled with life and culture but on the grand scale—the scale Time Lords were instructed with it was nothing. As a Time Tot everyone thought ickle Theta Sigma was crazy for liking – no for loving the Human race. They were nothing. Absolutely nothing on the bigger scheme of things. Void, maybe he was crazy. He got banned here once and now he was stuck here the second time in his life. This time he remembered how to fly his TARDIS but she was broken. Just as broken as he was.
Walking along he spotted a rock. A nice smooth good old rock. Nothing special about the rock itself other than it had a rather nice color too it. The Doctor knelt down and picked it up. He held it in his hand thinking before tossing it up. Catching it he did it again thinking about its velocity and mass. Simple Newtonian Physics. Not even that, that wasn’t even real Physics. That was just a primary equation with a little bit of trigonometry involved. He tossed the rock into the bay and watched it bounce causing ripples before it sunk out of sight.
Again boredom came upon the Doctor and he looked around. He needed something to do. Really, this was getting ridiculous. He needed to do something, maybe he should ask Jack if he could help him, do something. As much as he despised Torchwood it seemed that it might be something for him to do. That or get another job with UNIT again. Or a teaching job. Naw… he was too advanced for a teaching job. He would be content working in a super advanced physics’ lab with an atom smasher. That might be fun—until it became too simple for him. All of the Earth sciences were much too simple for him. His mind was far too advanced for that. To a Time Lord that was child play.
If only something exciting would happen. Trouble did seem to be his middle name. Then he spotted a woman who was blond he thought it was Rose – of course he would--- and walked over to her hugging her. In fact she wasn’t Rose and wasn’t even Human but he didn’t know that. Well, not yet. “Oh Rasslion am I glad to see you. I was just about to die—well regenerate from boredom if that is even scientifically possible.”

There were a few things that Aeris did not quite understand in the human world. Such as, why one would wink at another human. Or, why a person would lie for the sake of getting out of trouble. On her planet, it was either tell the truth or be executed, or sent to the Darklands. Their rules were harsh - unheard of. That was also partly why she fled to another part of the universe. To escape those strict bonds which held the Lyran - Re nation together. For better, or for worse.
And still, she still yearned for adventure - meaning. Her life was no better than an artificial intellegence of the human race, bound only the rules of humans. Aeris hated rules. She knew that much. But in order for her to blend into society, she must abide by them. She only did her best, but was not sure if that was ever really enough. There was more to this planet that she had ever predicted, so who knew when opportunity would knock -
Then, she was knocked to her left for a few paces, not fully registering what had happened. As a Lyran - Re, she did not fully understand human emotion, nor did she have a range of them. She knew she should feel something, but what? Her face, at the present time, was filled with confusion. Despite that, she had an unknown man clinging onto her. Her eyes widened, and began to pry the man away from her slender form.
"I daresay, what in Farans name are you doing?!" She really could not afford to be apologetic at this time. After all, he nearly knocked her to the ground. Faran, she she announced before, was the Lyran God of Knowledge. Cursing in his name was not much of a deal anymore, since she was far from home. Then she narrowed her eyes, and did a double take, "Regenerate? You must have the wrong human - I mean woman." Okay, even aliens make mistakes, and that could be her biggest blunder yet. Lyran - Re forms are hardly perfect by nature, which is why they spend most of their lives testing even the most simplest devices. They want perfection, even though they, like humans, make mistakes.
Aeris, did not hesitate after her mistake. They were not trained to display that particular emotion. Instead, she observed the man before him. His hair was messy and almost spiked, like he had just undergone electric shocks. His eyes were abnormally wide, and he looked rather frantic. Maybe he was naturally like that.
Then again, he did mention the word 'regenerate.' There were not many being in the universe who can reform in such a way, and humans were not one of them.

Clearly Rose was not in a cheery mood as she plied him off from his most generous embrace. For a moment the Doctor pouted ever so slightly seeming upset. His hearts broke and he sulked for a moment until the woman before him who really was not his Rose Tyler, who wasn’t even Human for that matter said something that made the Time Lord’s mind turn on a light bulb. Not a real one of course but a metaphorical one that did not really exist within this universe.
“Farans?” His mind wandered of deep within his brain that held so much information within it. Often he complained to Donna, his current universal companion whom he was tempted to kick out since Rose was back (but didn’t have the hearts to do such a thing) that he had too much substance in his head that he was growing forgetful. Farans’ that sounded vaguely familiar. Definably outside the Milky Way Galaxy still within the grasp of Mutter’s Spiral within the Super Cluster. The Doctor’s cosmic mind roamed for sometime reaching out for something he knew but was seeming to blank on spot.
His fingers snapped as if he was on the tip of discovering something of great importance. An ooh formed up on his lips. His jitteriness appeared to overcome his entire anatomy and he bounced in his place. Up and down and up again testing the fact that gravity would again pull his feet back to the ground. It did approximately nine point eight newtons hauling him back to the Earth where he could feel the Earth’s rotation below his feet. Lyran that was it! The Doctor smiled with glee as he was happy that he still had it. “Well I can’t say I took you to Lyran before Rose.”
Observing the blond for the first time he came to realize that she was not his Rose. She wasn’t even a Homo Sapein. Then again neither was he. Then it all clicked in his mind. Lyran, Faran the god of knowledge, and her rather sharp reaction by calling Rose a Human and then a girl. The Doctor nodded, “She’s both actually…. Broke a bunch of laws with that one. Oh well, well I guess neither of us is from this section of the universe. Sorry about that, I really did think you were my Rose. Erm I would happy offer you a lift if my ship wasn’t----“ The Doctor stopped in his tracks as he already said too much. He already confirmed that he was not of Earth and well he really should stop doing that. Then again he could just claim he was an Aquarian (which he was in Earth years). According to Earthling Astrology Aquarians were aliens and even if he was one it would be a legitimate excuses for his odd behavior that or he was insane. He could always plead to that.
She was examining him. He tried to ignore this and ran a hand though his spiky hair as he wondered why he had said too much. Maybe he was just being over critical of himself. Why was he here anyways? Ah, yes boredom. So he decided for his best interest that he would stay and try to get to know this woman of Lyran—that was if she was even from there.

She cocked to head over to one side, continuing the glare she had given him before. She honestly could not say if she had seen, or even heard of him before. Most likely, yes, but her race prettered to keep outside matters...wel, outside. Except for situations at war. Other than that, the dark grey planet was completely isolated. One stray Lyran, and they may as well destroy them in orbit. As clever as Aeris was, she hoped they were still occupied with the invasion.
"In reference to the fact that you percieved who I am, that poses the question. Who must you be?" Her yes fluttered slightly, as she could feel some sort of electron movement in the air around th Doctor. Either he is carying some unearthly device, or this ship he mentioned, carried the same waves. Much like a mist no-one could see, but being who she was, she could feel it and it registered in her wired Lyran brain. Much like an electronic biped herself. This meant two things: He was a traveller; a being not of this planet. Or, he was like her. An alien stuck in a human world.
She did another double take, "Rose: A wild or cultivated, usually prickly-stemmed, pinnate-leaved, showy-flowered shrubs of the genus Rosa..." She retraced the signal from her cell phone, which she used to tap into the internet and find that particular piece of information. Those electrical waves in her brain made that connection to help her find the information she needed.
"You are peculiar, and I figured you are in no way human. Am I correct? I can feel your two hearts beating rapidly from here."

He knew she was looking at him somehow and it felt different. Maybe that was when everything clicked and some signal in his brain said "hey this can't possibly be my Rose." Or maybe it was after the hug. The Doctor could sense a lot of things. Time sensitivity was apart of being a Time Lord. It was just as natural to feeling the Earth move below his feet. A lot of spices held time sensitivity. Spices such as Time Lords (who he was the last of) and others like the Time Beetle or the Weevil. There were some species who could surf the time vortex. The Doctor needed his TARDIS to that and his TARDIS at the moment was broken and unable to move anywhere without a pickup truck or any sort of Human assistance.
"True but you never said your name and that is anything but a proper introduction." The Doctor held out his hand in means to shake it, which became second nature after being around Humans for so long. He completely forgot about the fact that some species don't do hand shakes or don't even have hands for that matter. That the Cat Kind for that instance or a Dalek. "As for me, I'm the Doctor." Watching her he rocked on his feet. He couldn't keep still for a moment. The Doctor was always moving, fidgeting, or finding something to keep his interest. He got bored quite easily and needed something to keep him on his feet or have his brain amused. As for his malfunctioning TARDIS who worked in every which way but flight he couldn't seem to fix her no matter what trick in the bag he tried. "My Rose is not a flower, she's a person. Much better than a flower, but of course you would tap into some sort of technology to find that out. Its what you lot do." He said noting his memory of her race. The Doctor knew a lot of things. He knew the zoology from A to Z of the entire universe and didn't need an I-Spider book to do that. Martha Jones had his copy and the Doctor and her were official members of I-Spider. Rocking on his balls of his feet he nodded. He wasn't Human. He might appear Human as she did but both of them were not of the Human species. For one thing the Doctor had two hearts and TNA versus DNA which most Earth species obtained. He was also telepathic and could regenerate. The body he was wearing in at the moment was his tenth version of himself (including his original). "Time Lord, last of." he explained looking at the ground for a moment before his eyes looked up at the woman before him.[/blockquote]

Aeris bowed her head slightly, "Forgive my impoliteness. I've been a little bit to cautious around these parts...My name is Aeris - Dae. It is a pleasure to meet you, Doctor. A peculiar name, but I will not ask questions." The Doctor....Doctor....The name itself, seemed very familiar. She knew for a fact that it was a human term for someone who treats wounds, sickness, and anything that affects the human body. But as a name, it seemed to be shrouded in familiarity. She was sure she had heard of the name before. Not A Doctor, but THE Doctor.
"Rose is a beautiful name. I am sorry for my...what's the human term? 'Techno-babble'. It is quite a habit of me to do that, but yes, as a Lyran, we posses technopathic abilities. To communicate, understand, and even assemble technology. Human technology, for instance, is rather an easy one to use." In comparison to the technology of her own people, it was nothing. It was like comparing a bike to a sportscar. Their technological inventions were just as complex as their own internal make-up, full of a strange combination of living tissue and circutry.
She blinked a few times, and glanced sideways at him, "Time Lord, did you say? The last of your kind? Surely it can't be...That is merely the stuff of legend!"

Nodding he realized his hand was still sticking out and he stuffed it into his pocket. "Aeris-Dae." he repeated to let the name sponge into his skull which was filled with many facts and substance. Peculiar? The Doctor shrugged lightly. "Well, I don't really have a name anymore. It got taken away when I was a child," Time Lords had titles. It was common. They picked renegade names usually when granted their TARDIS. The Doctor always seemed to fit him because he made things better and for another thing he actually was a studious man who had doctorates in just about everything. "Its fine, I do it all the time. Its nice having someone to be able to understand one self." He told her as he did strongly feel that way about it. His companions never seemed to follow his technological rants and for once it was nice to have someone to be able to talk to. Nodding again he beamed, "Oh yes, but one must admit gotta love the old fashioned cars. And I am thankful they invented jelly babies. Love jelly babies. But yeah, you do have a point. Human tech is rather underrated compared to the homemade stuff-- well I guess that doesn't matter anymore cos its all gone." Tears formed in his eyes and he looked away trying to de-think about Gallifrey. It was hard and everything seemed to keep hitting him in the back to that subject. The Doctor needed to move on. Yet he was so proud of his heritage and Rasslion did make some very interesting inventions such as the Ring of Rasslion or the De-Mat gun. "Yeah, that's me. Last of the Time Lords. Stuff of legends." He ran a hand though his hair and smiled over at Aeris-Dae. "So what brings you to the Orion Arm of the Milky Way? Hmmmm?" [/blockquote]

She watched as the Doctor retraced his hand. Dammit...what she meant to shake it? She still did not grasp the human mannerisms. Make that, mannerisms in general, because from what she knew, the Doctor wasn't human either. She was understanding a larger range of emotions, despite actually not being able to manifest them yet. Slowly, she was working on it.
When he mentioned about his real name, she frowned, "Oh, that's rather unfortunate...." But once he said something about being understood in terms of language, her face lit up in a friendly smile, "I'm so relieved. I get rather annoyed when humans look at me blankly. But, it's nice to know that some people do understand me...Those old fashioned cars? They were horrendous! I disliked them so much, I actually modified one. Kind of turned it into a rocket, when I added a few fuel canisters and rewired the radio-trasmitter into a solar-powered emitter, which didn't end so well...Headed straight towards the sun." Yes, not all of her experiments had a happy ending. But, it was amusing to watch and was suprised the authorities didn't chase her up.
He made a comment about it being all gone...she saw how quiet he had gotten when thet touched up on that subject, but she did know why. She had grown up taking an interest in history, despite their race forbidding such acts. They tried so hard to preserve their planet from the horrors of other species, that any kind of communication with the outside world was forbidden. Hence, they were allowed to become involve with any kind of history elsewhere. But being the rebel she was, had tapped into the goverment system to access that information. She didn't know much about Gallifrey, but what she read was completely disturbing. Mainly about the Time War, and the Daleks, but it was enough to convince her to leave her planet and explore. Being a victim of a looming war was not something she wanted. Luckily she left when she did, but did not even regrett it. But, she saw how saddened the Doctor became, and so her face went grim.
"I am sorry for your loss, Doctor. I do know a bit about what happened, yes - " She never liked to press an issue, if it affected someone so badly. She at least gave them that much respect. Then he asked what brought her here to Earth, "A very unfortunate, malfunctioned landing. My Fioran Device went wrong, and I ended up here. It took me years to assemble, so now i'm back to repairing it now. Been here for about a year."

"Mmmm my cousins got me in trouble and the council didn't want to believe me or what my--- Irving said in my defense. So I lost my name and got tagged with lots and lots of titles." He didn't mention Irving being his brother as he stopped calling him that after the trial because his brother had let him down as well. That didn't mean he didn't get the guy socks it just meant that he stopped calling him a brother. But Irving like the rest of his kind were dead. A grin fell across his face as Aeris-Dae spoke of her adventures with technology. He loved techno-talk. Being boffin was amazing and finding fellow boffiners was even more brilliant. His eyes glistened and sparkled and soon his depressing gloomy thoughts of Gallifrey and anything to do with the Time War faded from his train of thought. "An inventor then? Ah brilliant! I love inventions. I do a few myself. Helped old Willy with Hamlet and Ben Franklin with his key." The Doctor got all animated and wide eyed. He loved this sort of thing. He had a deep feeling that Aeris-Dae did as well. His eyes glazed away for a moment and fell staring down at his shoes. He noted they were dirty and maybe he should get a new pair but he liked his converses too much. He nodded and looked up at the woman again. "Sorry, I would offer you a ride but -- she's broken for the moment. I'm stuck here as well. Funny thing is I tried everything and the dam TARDIS won't budge." [/blockquote]
