name , Strixatan Damishen
nicknames , Strix, Seth Anderson (his human alias)
age & date of birth , 20, born February 25th
gender , Neuter, being a weird alien and all. Identifies as male for ease of use(and my writing suffers when all I can use is 'it'.).
sexual orientation , Omnisexual
species , Alien--Xiodanar
Note: All Xiodans have a natural ability to shapeshift. In addition to their natural form (see style) they can turn into one other 'reserve' form. This reserve form can be changed at will, but requires contract with a member of the species being used. Contact is required each time a reserve form is changed, even if the shape has been used in the past. Shifting can affect personality short-term, with often gaining characteristics of whatever species taken. Seth's current reserve form is a human male.(An example, 'cause no one I talked to understood it: If Seth wanted to be anything other than human/Xiodanar, he'd have to go out and pet a squirrel. In order to become human again after that, he'd have to make out with Jack. Yes, of course the snogging part is necessary.)
played by , Jensen Ackles

height , 6'3"
weight , 78 kilograms
tattoos and piercings , None
physical flaws , A series of puncture scars along his right arm.
personal style , Seth isn't exactly fashion-forward. He wears clothing only new enough to blend in, and nothing more. Comfort and freedom generally preside over appearance for him. He'll never be found in anything other than sneakers or hiking boots. Seth tends to prefer dark, sober colors, but doesn't spend much thought over it. If he's hot he'll wear a t-shirt (or go topless) and if he's cold he'll wear a jacket. Simple. And although Seth is very pretty (shapeshifting has its advantages) he generally tries to avoid standing out. If that doesn't work, then he'll actively repel others. He's large, fit, and intimidating enough to bluff through anything he can't handle by himself. He moves gracefully, and is almost catlike in his mannerisms. He generally has a good deal of stubble, more out of a dislike for shaving than anything.
~Alien~
Seth's natural form, that of a Xiodanar, is a good deal less...cuddly. More claws humans have, too. Although bipedal, they resemble birds and reptiles more than humans. Sleek and muscular, they have short, tufted tails and feet with claws that are Far Too Big. Their hands also have decent claws, making them slightly less dexterous than human hands. Xiodans are covered in a mixture of tiny, soft scales and feathers, in Seth's case a mix of black and grey. Their heads are flat and mostly round, with large, sensitive eyes and a small beak--which makes most human languages very hard to pronounce. Their senses and reflexes are very sharp, to the point of being painfully sensitive, and an already-good sense of balance is aided by their tails. They are fast, predatory, and look suspiciously like the product of a nightmare or B-grade horror movie. It's a good thing they don't eat sentient beings, right? Right?

strengths ,
~Fluent in English, Mandarin, and Afrikaans, rusty in French.
~Intimidation--Seth rarely has to say anything to get his point across. He has honed the art of 'big and scary'. Can throw a decent punch, when necessary.
~Seth is pretty unflappable. It takes a lot to get him upset. He's hard to irritate and ignores insults.
~Seth can seriously hold his liquor. No, really. Don't even try matching him.
~Observant--Seth has excellent senses, including the common sense needed to use them properly.
weaknesses ,
~People--Seth likes them, he really does, but they're so mean.
~Suspicious--Strix has a very hard time taking any kindness at face value.
~ Secretive and very introverted; hard to break him out of his shell.
~Himself--Due to his nature and upbringing, Seth is constantly caught between two (sometimes more) cultures and identities, each with its own set of needs and viewpoints. Makes him a bit indecisive and insecure, not to mention messed up.
~ Crossword puzzles
fears ,
Losing Control: Pretty obvious, really. Seth's been lucky in that he hasn't accidentally shifted around people, but that could change far too easily.
Doctors: This isn't even really a 'might get caught' thing. Seth doesn't like needles, or that weird smell that hospitals always have.
Hurting People: Strix has had his share of abuse, but is incredibly reluctant to give back what he gets.
overall personality ,
Quiet, intense, and hard to read, Seth is probably best described as 'a bit of a spook'. Although not truly antisocial, he is fairly introverted, and generally refrains from small talk. He might not seem all that cold, but warm isn't the right word either. He can be blunt, painfully so, but this is not from lack of intelligence--he simply views brief as better, and sees no reason to sugar-coat his words. He can use subtlety when necessary, and is fairly good at it, even, but it leaves a bad taste in his mouth. Mostly, he just feels awkward around strangers, but is far too proud to show it--so he settles for passive intimidation. Not that Seth is prone to anger, oh no--he keeps a very tight rein on his temper. He has to--strong emotions just might make him lose control of his shifting, and that would be a Bad Thing.
With a very strict moral code, Seth is nothing if not honorable. He might not be outwardly friendly, but will never pass by someone in need. Despite his outward attitude, Seth is surprisingly compassionate --but never expects the same from others, and is constantly surprised by kindness. He rarely lies, and always feels guilty about it later. Forget something like breaking The Rules. Seth can be stiff and awkward around strangers, if not standoffish. His sense of humor, too, is somewhat lacking. Practical jokes are completely beyond him. Seth appreciates irony, though. He lives it.
Of course, this is Seth's human personality. He spends enough time as a human that his natural Xiodanar personality almost seems like the intruder. Still, the longer he stays in his natural form, the more the stick up his ass loosens. His 'natural' personality is a good deal more cheerful and talkative, but also more predatory. If he stays in it too long, he's going to want to go chase rabbits and squirrels. Maybe people. Still, shifting makes him come out of his shell, and does him good. Human bodies feel so awkward.

history ,
It's hard being the new kid in town. It's even harder when you don't know the native language. When you're a young alien, trying to figure out why staying hidden was necessary, well, things tended to get a little complicated. Don't even try to make friends, no--your parents are just going to use them for studying, anyway.
Seth might be alien, but he has spent most of his life on Earth. Born to a pair of Xiodanar anthropologists, he ended up moving to Earth at the tender age of three for their research. They were studying China at the time, and so Seth spent his grade-school years in Beijing. Yes, grade school. No matter that what he was learning was ridiculously outdated, his parents wanted him to interact with the locals. The social structures that children set up, of course, were very relevant to their work. Even if Seth did end up being the one who got made fun of and beat up. He might have been able to look like the locals, and did his best to act like them, but he was always an outsider. There was also the little problem of his ancestry--there was the constant fear of slipping up and revealing himself, or mentioning that his parents were really studying humans.
Next was South Africa, in which the same scenario was repeated. Here the adjustment was a little faster, thankfully, but most still instinctively saw him as different. Different is not a good thing for a kid. Seth was constantly afraid of defending himself, lest he do something like turn into a big scary alien and eat someone. Slowly, he built up a shell around himself. As he grew older--and tougher--things became easier, but he still couldn't really fit in. Seth became more and more solitary, spending large amounts of time as far away from people as possible. In the middle of the woods, at least, he didn't have to worry about what he turned into. He also took up bird watching, much to others' bemusement. He liked birds, and flying was fun.
Then there was Canada--same problems, more snow. Seth spent the rest of his high school years there, and at their conclusion, Seth's parents decided to send him back to their home planet. He needed to complete his education, but mostly they thought it would be good for him to spend more time around other Xiodanar. It ended up being worse--he'd been raised among humans, and had been one for a very long time. Going back to normal Xiodanar behavior was difficult. He ended up being just as isolated there as among humans, only without the defenses he'd been spending years building up. Two years later, Seth ended up returning to Earth. It might be an annoying backwater planet, but it was home.
Not particularly enthusiastic to rejoin his parents, Seth instead ended up travelling. Surprisingly, he liked it a good deal more, when the destination and activities were his to chose. He did odd jobs when money was needed; slept in trees when odd jobs couldn't be found. Although not entirely sure why, he felt something pulling him to Cardiff. Maybe he'd find some peace at last. Seth needs some, after all--ever since coming to Cardiff, he's been on edge and irritable. Maybe it's the weather.
