Truth be told, Alex wasn't really an outdoors person. She was allergic to—well, pretty much everything—and burned, rather than tanned. Finding her in a park, with trees and flowers and little kids, was fairly unusual. But fresh air and sunshine were supposed to be healthy, right? That, and she had exhausted her regular spots. Alex had finally managed to fix the whole in the top of her loft, but the paint fumes and dust were enough convince her it wasn't the best place to work. Still had a headache by the time she left, granted, but that was the price she paid for setting off explosions indoors. Worse, it was a Sunday, and her favorite cafe was closed. Finding a quiet spot in the city had been surprisingly difficult, and she eventually settled on the park.
It probably would have been easier to just not work for the afternoon, but Alex decided against it. She had some coding to get through that just couldn't wait. Well, it probably could, but still. And so, the woman had popped an antihistamine, found a nice secluded bench, and set to work on her ever-so-shiny laptop. Sleek, ultra-portable, and a battery life that was a day or so longer than the manufacturer's. Not that she'd brag about that little mod, oh no. It had ended up pretty useful on occasion, though.
A few hours later Alex had put a good dent in her work, and the sun was just starting to sidle up to the horizon. Probably safe to go back to her loft, yeah, but she knew that as soon as she did, another pet project would demand attention. She deserved a break, right? There had been a WiFi signal she picked up when she sat down, probably from one of the local buildings. Secure, of course, but that just made it fun. Wait. Was she really to the point where hacking was a form of relaxation? Something wrong with that, probably. Grinning to herself, Alex set her playlist to Daft Punk and started in on getting some internet access. Maybe this whole park thing wasn't a bad deal after all.
