Donna stood alone, staring at the controls of the TARDIS. One minute she would chew on her fingers, the next she's be pacing the interior like a madwoman. Right now, she honestly couldn't work out why the TARDIS was being so damn stubborn. Even the Doctor, as brilliant as he was, could not figure it out either. Frankly, she didn't have a problem being stranded from Cardiff, in which she was still relieved she was even on Earth to begin with. Honestly, was more worried about the Doctor who hardly ever stayed in one place at any given time. Especially stuck with her...poor bugger.
She walked a few paces towards the controls, and brushed her hand over the controls. She hovered it over a few, considering on slamming onto it. But knowing her luck, the thing would take off and leave her floating around space on her own. God knows how that would end up. But what could the Doctor possibly be doing wandering around Cardiff? He should be here trying to get the machine working.
She placed a hand on one of the levers, and rested it there for a few moments, "Maybe just a tug will do the trick...Oh, hell. Knowing my luck i'll probably break it..." She rolled her eyes and took her hand off the lever, "Now i'm bloody talking to myself...I've really gone bonkers."

"No, don't do that, really don't do that. The Doctor climbed up the steps from the main control room and glared at over at Donna. "How many times? Wait, don't tell me, just don't tell me I don't want to know. Wait yes I do....Donna how many times must I have to tell you not to play with the console? Last time we tried you almost ran directly into the 1980's." He was not in the happiest of moods. That was for sure. In fact he was in quite a sour mood and it was not a good idea to mess with him. Oh no, not now especially Donna who tended to have quite the feisty temperament of a tea spoon. Actually come to mention it, that was exactly what Donna was in a nutshell but a clever spoon at that. She might not be the brightest light-bulb in the bunch but she was clever and the Doctor adored her for that. No, really he did he just never really showed it.
Sighing he pulled himself up a seat in the captain's chair which consisted of a dusty old car seat. The TARDIS seemed to have all sorts of old nick knacks and things that the Doctor had collected throughout the years. Alas Donna on the other hand was a handful. It constantly seemed like he was babysitting her day in and day out. He took her all around the universe, throughout time and space-- hell they even met Ghani and Dame Agatha Chrisy (who really was that brilliant) and had all sorts of wonderful adventures. But now the duo was stuck back in Cardiff, Wales off all places and Donna seemed to want to stick with him. He didn't mind of course as he got lonely but Rose was back and all and he sorta wanted to have some "alone" time with her.
Then after a while he mused out loud, "Donna, how long do you plan to stay with me? I mean, it's not exactly like this old girl is going to get fixed anytime soon." And it seemed like she wouldn't because he tried everything in the book, and everything that his brilliant mind could come up with. She still didn't budge.

Donna heard the Doctor approaching, and looked up, "Well, its about time you showed up. Chasing up banana daquiri's again, are you?" She watched as the man plonked down on the old and tattered car seat, which was meant to be a Captain's chair, and raised her eyebrow. It was obvious to her that so far, she had none of those 'aha!' moments to share with him. But hey, at least she tried.
"Well, one of us needs to get this thing working. Maybe, it needs a womans touch..." She smirked and placed her hands on her hips. "No offense. Besides, it's not me i'm worried about. It's you. What on earth, could a Time Lord like you, do in a small city like Cardiff? No pun intended."
She ran a hand through her hair, and stared back at the Doctor. It was the whole idea of tagging along with him in the first place. To see the universe, experience different cultures and witness different species. Not get stuck in same old Cardiff. Boring. And not only that, the TARDIS failed to move anywhere. And frankly, the Doctor needed someone there with him. She figured he spent alot of time with the blonde. Rose Tyler, whom she has never met yet. That left Donna hanging.
"Someone needs to watch your back. Again. Besides, I still havent met this Rose, yet."

"No actually I was just taking a looksy at the main power source downstairs. You know I haven't been down that way for ages. Didn't work exactly as I will have you imagine or we would be speeding though the space-time vortex faster than the speed of light--or faster than you can say Jimmy Cricket. Whichever you prefer." he told her in a nonchalant sort of manor. It didn't work and so he had to keep the TARDIS happy or he might personally lose it as well. Somehow the mood of the TARDIS held an impact over his own and made him feel all warm and fuzzy on the insides if that made any sense at all. Perhaps to Donna it wouldn't but he had a feeling Rose would understand an explanation like that as she looked into the heart and soul of the TARDIS herself.
Smiling he shook his head, "yeah and Rose already had a looksy. She seems to be the only one other than Romana whom this old girl liked. Maybe Leela... but.... no matter their gone." he said sorrowfully as they were. Romana was not heard of since she was sent away during the Time War off to E-Space. Maybe she was alight and maybe like the others and Leela she was dead. Only Rasslion knew but he like the others was dead. His key remained somewhere within the Doctor's belongings as he gave it him to end the Time War alongside with Gallifrey.
"I'm sure you will." he noted not really wanting the two women to clash but he knew it would happen eventually as knowing Rose she had a tendency of running into his private life which in reality really wasn't that private.

"Cheer up, you old sod. That's the reason you have Rose, and me. Besides, anything you want me to do in the meantime? Run errands? Chase down aliens? Throw a party? Well, it is a reunion after all..." Donna placed her hands on her hips, and tilted her head to one side, examining the Doctor. She really did feel sorry for him. She would say she understood how he felt, in actual fact, she wasn't the only one left of her kind. It must have been tough to go through all that and loose everyone. All the more reason why she didn't intend on leaving him soon.
"So - Who else have I yet to meet? I hear the great Captain Jack lives around here somewhere..." She gave the Doctor a cheeky grin. From what he heard, he sounded like an interesting guy. A dashing, handsome hero, who was also, and ironically, immortal. Just like the Doctor.

A grin fell across his lips. The Doctor loved having Donna Nobel around for one reason. That reason was her sense of humor. She could turn the stickiest situation into something laughable. Something that even he could smile at. "Donna..." The Doctor began with a teasing grin. She made him happy. "A party now why didn't I think of that? I swear this brain is filled with too much substance." He tapped his noggin. "Perhaps I am getting old." Pressing his lips together in thought he mused about Donna's question of who lived in Cardiff. It was a big place. Torchwood for one was located in Cardiff. Martha Jones might be near by and England wasn't that far away from Wales. He had a lot of companions that lived there like Sarah Jane Smith for one. Then there was UNIT and the list seemed to go ever on and on. To Donna he meekly said, "I know a lot of people," and shrugged it off. [/blockquote]

"So...what do you think we should do? We can't just sit around waiting for something to happen. There must be something do you can do to fix the TARDIS - " Donna looked around the ship as if to emphasize her point. The ship seemed as stubborn as she was, and rarely that happened with anyone. Or anything.
Donna folded her arms neatly over her chest, and gave a small shrug, "What about this...Torchwood. Can they help, at least? If its got something to do with the Rift, then i'm sure we could use their expertise...Since when am I this idealistic? Must be those few drinks I had with Rose..."
That, was an interesting encounter. And quite coincidental as well, considering she had spent the morning trying to coax the Doctor to see her. But after a few more...interesting encounter, it had made her realise how much the Time Lord was to get himself into. The future held much for him, and from the vibe she got from the future Doctor, he seemed a bit too lonesome than he realised. But, that's why Donna was here. To make sure she gave him assistance, company, and just be a great friend who was with him every step of the way. No matter how much of a dunce he was, he still meant a great deal to her.
She gave him a small laugh, "What on earth would you do without me, Doc?"

Sighing he ran a hand though his hair and opened and closed his mouth. How many times did he have to explain? Apparently one hundred and one. Was Donna really that thick? The Doctor didn't think so but sometimes he was left wondering. Yet a strong part of the Doctor knew Donna held some smarts. For one thing, she knew the Dewy Decimal System like the back of her hand and she did have a sense of street smarts. Maybe not rocket science or anything too complicated but she did have a way of bossing him around-- even though he was the older and wiser of the duo. "Donna, how many times do I have to tell you I TRIED EVERYTHING!" The Doctor felt like pulling out his hair. He memorized the TARDIS manual when he was a Time Tot for crying out loud. He knew it like he knew algebra-- like the back of his hand (of course that kept changing with his various regenerations but the point was he knew it, inside out and any other direction possible). Torchwood, the Doctor tensed at the word. Even though Captain Jack Harkness gave the place a remodeling after the Doctor's principles the Doctor still felt a little iffy about the place. It brought back old memories which he hated thinking about. How many times did he have to explain the whole story to people? It was annoying, complicated, and moreover it was how he initially lost Rose. The Doctor never said a proper goodbye to her or told her that he loved her with both his hearts because it would mess things up and there were so many Time Lord rules that he liked to follow-- even if he was the Last of his kind. "They can't do anything, I know more than they do. I technically established Torchwood in 1869 by getting on Queen Victoria's bad side. She hated aliens because of me." The Doctor explained not fully wanting to go into it. "Its not the rift. If it was I would know." He apparently claimed that he knew everything. Sometimes that wasn't always the case. Even Time Lords couldn't know everything. But right now he was playing the part of a stubborn know-it-all who was refusing to open his eyes to other options. "Donna--- SHUT UP!" "DON'T CALL ME THAT, its the Doctor. Simply the Doctor!" He never really liked being called Doc. It got on his nerves. It always got on his nerves and he hated it. The Doctor didn't know about Donna meeting his future self. He wasn't even aware of him being in this particular time line as the chance of running into one self was nearly improbable. [/blockquote]

Just as she thought the Doctor would laugh it off, all things when sour from then on. She jumped when he began his sudden outburst; something she did not expect from him. He began his rant, and Donna simply stared at him, wide-eyed and completely oblivious to it. Definatly unexpected, but maybe went a little bit too far.
Then he told her to shut up. Not be quite, or 'not now', but SHUT UP. Donna was about to say something else, but bit her lip and decided against it. She had never seen him so angry before. Ever. Especially not at her, and immediatly, she felt bad about it. She just had to press his buttons. On a usual day, he would just laugh it off or say something else that Donna might laugh at. But, this is serious.
She leaned back on the rail, and just stared at the floor. She took a few minutes just standing there in silence, "I just wanted to help..." That was all that she managed to say. She was practically on the verge of tears, but fought against it. She wasn't weak, and she sure as hell would not let him see that. Gathering up the courage to do so, she looked up at him. She never noticed it before, but he clearly looked furious. It was not the typical-eccentric face he always displayed, but he was definatly at a loss.
"I'm sorry. I guess you won't need me, then?" She looked at the door, and simply stared at it, wondering if it was okay to leave him here. A part of her wanted to stay and keep him company, but she highly doubted he wanted her here now. She couldn't help it, and only tried to help. What more can she possibly do? She wondered if the future Doctor ever regretted his actions? Or even missed her for that fact. Maybe she should just head home.

Maybe he had gone too far this time. He didn't mean to shout at Donna. It just sort of happened like that. He was frustrated and a little annoyed at his TARDIS for simply breaking down upon him. It wasn't fair. Life wasn't fair and perhaps it was wrong to have shouted at Donna or tell her off but she pushed his buttons and rule number one was never push the Doctor's buttons because he did have a fierce side under his go lucky laugh it off razzle dazzle cover. Looking away he ran a hand though his hair and tied to cool off. He needed to compose himself right now and maybe have sometime alone. To think, yet he also didn't want to be alone and liked having the company.
"Your not helping." he said in a slightly less harsher tone but the anger still trailed in his voice. Closing his eyes he breathed in deeply. The Doctor moved closely to the console panel and simply let his head fall against one of the six sides of the hexagonal console. After a while he sheepishly added, "Well, your definably not going to help by just standing there." his head remained on the console for another minute as he began to collect himself. The rush of frustration and anger seemed to be cooling off. Maybe he just needed some tea or a break. "I need Rose, and a pickup truck." he announced as he stood up from the console getting a radical idea in his mind. "Donna, don't be daft. Of course I need you. Sorry, I got a little frustrated with being stuck in this place. I can't stay in a place for too long. It does things to me, I guess." he told her shuffling his feet. The Doctor didn't look at her he just sort of rambled it focusing on the TARDIS. "I took it out on the wrong person, its the TARDIS I'm mad at, not you." Now he felt really horrible for letting himself be cross with Donna. That was his older self not this new one. Donna was at the door and looked like she was going. The Doctor sighted and established it was partially his own doing. He bit his lip and let his mind wander for a while. The quite hum of the console seemed to calm him. [/blockquote]
