physical flaws , Karen hates her feet, because the toes are bent funny, and the knuckles are knobbly. Karen also happens to hate the scars that are littered all over her torso, from various accidents and fights, and she thinks her eyes are too big.
personal style , Karen dresses for comfort, and then for style. She most often can be seen wearing 'hippie' clothing, or when it's called for, highly fashionable clothing. No matter what it is, it's comfortable and it turns heads. Karen quite likes to be in the center of attention, and she often goes little gimicks to draw said attention to herself.

overall personality ,
Karen seems to be a bundle of everything. On one hand, she loves attention and being wild and crazy, she enjoys being different than most people and loves to flaunt it out. That's the side the real world sees, they see the cocky, snarky, sarcastic woman who lives her life as if it were her last day, every day and doesn't look back to see the descruction she leaves. Karen likes to have fun, she likes to go to parties and drink until she can't remember if it was that guy, or that girl that she slept with last night.
The other side to Karen is the side that no one else sees, the side that only the people who work with her see. She's focused and deadly, she keeps her concentration and she doesn't get scared easily. Working with aliens and Jack Harkness doesn't seem to faze her what so ever. Karen seems to keep the real her bottled down for when she's working, when she has to behave or someone could get killed. Karen jokes around a lot with her co-workers, let's them see the other side of her, the real-world side often enough. Karen often wonders if maybe she's not got duel personalities.

history ,
Karen Marie Jackson, was born into a world of logic, practicality and responisibility. All of these things drove Karen up the wall. From the moment she was old enough to know what 'no' ment she used it at every oppertunity. No she didn't want baby peas mashed up, no she didn't like broccoli, no she didn't want to get toilet trained. No she didn't want to go to school. And then, she ment William, at that aforementioned school that she didn't want to go to. William was a nerd, and that's the nicest way anyone could ever put it. William liked aleins and other ExtaTerrestrial things, he liked to study the sky and he loved to tell Karen wild stories about adventures that his dad had once had with a man who flew a telephone box.
It was a well known fact that Williams Dad was crazy, and Karen was interested by this. Why was he crazy ? Because people couldn't see the facts? William and Karen began a club, to proove to everyone once and for al what had happened to Williams father. Time rolled, the club slowly faded to the back of their minds and William gave up on aleins, even when Karen suggested they watch Mars Attacks one last time, just for prosperities sake. No, that wouldn't do. Karen and Williams friendship faded, William had found a new species, girls, one the Karen wasn't part of.
Karen lashed out against people, confused by the loss of her friend and the, rather sudden, loss of her father. Her mother had never realyl understood why it was that everyone else in the family could behave normally, but Karen insisted upon loud music, loud clothes and an even louder mouth. Things got harder and harder for Karen at home, and she eventually took to staying after school for as long as she could. Her marks rocketed, and she graduated with several scholarships.
Enough to get her into medical school, and for her to do psycology classes on the side. Having so many classes often ment that Karen had a topsy turvy sleep scheduele, and missed appointments that had been arranged by her mother for them to talk, even when Karen did arrive at their lunches, or suppers. Karen tended to be a little.... odd, muttering about 'non-humanoid structures' and 'lack of a digestion track'. Karen' mother was sure that her daughter had gone crazy, and called the police on her. The truth was that Karen had found something, something not of this world and she had turned her focus to that.
After being detained for a few hours, Karen was released, being told that here was nothing wrong with her, she just had to take it easy on the studying and late nights. Karen arrived at her doorstep to find her flat had been destroyed. There was no finger prints, the police said, no sign of forced entry, nothing to say that anything had gone wrong, except for hte fact that her flat was a complete mess. It wasn't too long later, that Karen received a letter of strange markings, ones that she oculdn't understand or for the life of her, find someone who could.
Karen was later contacted by a group that called themselves Torchwood and the mystery of the body, her ruined room and the letter, which turned out ot be an apology, all fell into place.

roleplay sample ,
"Joan of Arc was a senile masochist... which actually is revealing more and more about you." Elijah's eyebrows rose happily. "Well, you being a woman would confuse and amaze me, because from what I've seen... you musta undergone some kind of crazy surgery to get that." Elijah chuckled.
"No, don't be ridiculous." Elijah frowned. "I didn't mean t'bug you. Don't... just ignore whatever I say." he grumbled a bit, dropping backwards to the bed.
Elijah smiled a bit "Well... carefull isn't what gets me paid." he said simply. "An' technically, we are supposed t'have partners but I promised the boss that if he let the guy off, with pay I'd do his share of the work too." Elijah fiddled a bit with a button on Ernest's shirt, wondering vaguely how many other people had touched that button. "His Dad's really sick... prolly'll die, so I figured I'd help him out." Elijah wasn't sure why, but he felt like a bit embarrased saying this. "Tracy's just pissed about it." Elijah snorted " 'Sides from that, I suppose nothing particularily exciting's been going on." Elijah nodded a bit.
He continued to fiddle with the button on Ernest's shirt to keep his finger occupied. I suppose it's a button up shirt t'make it easier to get on and off he thought dully. "Kinda seems like a long time ago, huh?" Eijah mumbled, pressing his lips lightly to Ernest's neck. For, it did feel like a forever ago when the the two of them and their respective animals had lived in their house on the poor side of town.
Their little sanctuary, where even Elijah's nightmares ended okay. WHere he'd wake up, and find Ernest hovering over him (kind of like he was now), appearing nervous and strained. At least he always pulled Elijah back down to earth. "Thank you." Elijah spoke up suddenly. Elijah looked to Ernest's eyes, biting his lips. "I don't think that I'd made it all this time without you." Elijah felt even more emabarrased, saying that, but it was true.
Elijah kissed Ernest deeply, starting to sit up a bit, he wrapped his arms tightly around Ernest. It was wonderful, having Ernest so close once again. He wanted it to be like this forever. "Would you leave her?" Elijah pulled back from the heated kiss. "Would you leave Marissa and come live with me?" He spoke in a voice, barely above a whisper, but desperatly. As if the next words out of Ernest's mouth weren't some form of 'yes' then he would die.
