“Mmmmmhm,” he nodded as he meant what he said. The Doctor figured she would like that better than the Pizza place, or the Thai place. Cardiff, had really nasty chips in his opinion, yet he was spoiled to English chips which were much better than the Welsh ones…the Irish had fair chips as well, just not during the Potato famine that was. “I love it, really great combination of spices.” The Time Lord went on to explain as he loved hot – as in really spicy hot dishes and noodles. In fact he couldn’t complain with most dishes of the orient. Everywhere on Earth had some sort of good food; no matter where he ended up he would find something. The city of Cardiff just simply happened to have a good Chinese restaurant. They had a few alight Welshy places but he wasn’t in the mood for something like Steak and Chips at the moment. Not after the amazing Chinese place that he was so keen on taking Rose too.
For a moment he just looked at Rose and shrugged as he walked out of the TARDIS. Fresh air might do him some good, but really fresh air like in outer space would do him all the better. He was a big believer on the airless wonders beyond the Earth’s atmosphere. That or just go up to the summit of Mount Everest in the Himalayas between India and China’s border and breath that sort of air. It was the Earth’s highest point, that and there was always the Yedi….
Let’s face it Rose missed a lot. There was the whole to do about the Master returning and dying, all the odd Christmases that she missed out on, William Shakespeare, Agatha Christy, a lot of running, Martha Jones, and Mrs. Donna Noble. “Well there was Martha who walked out on me---she’s now a doctor with UNIT, last I heard from her….then there’s Donna Nobel who has amazing hair…I didn’t exactly big her up per say she sort of just came along with me.” The Doctor adored Donna’s hair because of its color, see it was the one thing he always wanted in hair and that was gingerness. But the thing was nobody compared to Rose and the Doctor was glad she was back with him once more.

Rose opened her mouth in mock horror. "I've been replaced!" she gasped, but couldn't help but smile. She was glad. She didn't like the idea of him travelling without someone. She knew how lonely he had gotten even with her there. And he needed someone to hold his hand. Boy did that bring back memories.
Although she couldn't help but resent the slim, pretty and gorgeously beautiful red-headed (if the doctor loved her hair, chanced were she was ginger) woman that sprang to mind when he mentioned his new companion. The words brought up the bitter tange of jelousy, but she pushed it down and made sure not to show it.
She grinned again, swinging their joined hands, just letting herself believe that it was really him as she watched him. "So, where's this Chinese place?" she asked.

“No, no one could ever replace you. Not ever.” The Doctor told her as this was the truth. No one in the whole wide space and time continuum could ever replace his Rose Tyler. She was something else in his books, and ever since she left he had compared every companion he had to Rose. That’s why Martha walked out, and well Donna she just came along for the thrills of the universe. The Doctor couldn’t come to believe that Rose though she had been replaced, that was simply impossible.
Taking her hand he gave it a squeeze of reinsurance. He wanted her to know that he was there for her, that he was always going to be there for her whenever she gave a holler. Stopping for a moment he looked into her hazel eyes with his dark brown ones. The Time Lord stared at Rose as a grin grew onto his face and bloomed into a boyish cheeky smile. “Don’t you go thinking you can be replaced Rose Tyler.”
“Oh it’s just down the corner….around here somewhere.” Honestly he couldn’t remember he pulled Rose in some direction and followed his nose wherever it would lead them. They walked on for a while before he spotted it. “HA! I knew I would find the old devil.”

Rose grinned. She'd known that it wasn't replacement, but still, it was nice to be told. "Don't worry, I know." she grinned again, and flicked her hair. "Who could possibly measure up to me anyway" she laughed, nudging him with her shoulder.
As he looked into her eyes and smiled that ever so special grin of his, she felt the butterflies, pleasant and fluttery, rise up in stomach. Maybe things hadn't changed so much, she couldn't help thinking as the image of the slender red head all but disappeared.
As they reached the Chinese place, Rose glanced at him from the corner of her eye. "That was pure luck, wasn't it." she laughed, her eyes teasing.

It seemed that no time between them really passed at all. Everything was clicking back into place. The missing pieces were placed back together again, and Humpty Dumpty was whole once more. His mouth opened as he was about to give a response but the Doctor was about to say something about a clone of Rose but it reminded him of Martha’s clone and he decided to simply not bring up the subject. She nudged him in the shoulder and he gave her a little nudge back.
Looking away he led her down to where he spotted the restaurant. The Doctor’s stomach was craving for food. He wanted anything with some nice spicy flavor. Again he was walking very fast and ended up dragging Rose behind him. "What's this luck buisness?" he shouted to her as he let go of her hand. Sometimes he let himself get a little too ahead. The Doctor ran into the door he didn’t remember to hold it open as he rusted to get a table. Then he saw Rose coming toward the door and he rushed to the opening to hold it for her. He wasn’t exactly the perfect gentleman.
After she was inside, the Doctor smiled at the waitress as she led them over to a booth near a window. The Doctor slid in and looked out the window for a moment before picking up the menu on the table. Moments later his glasses were sitting on his nose as he examined the menu. Everything looked good it was hard to sect a dish. “What are you getting?”

Rose laughed as she sped up to keep time with the Doctor. It was always running with him, even if they weren't in danger. Mind you, that had to be near a first. There had always been some kind of danger. All part of the fun. Travelling with the Doctor just wouldn't be the same without the dangers, the seemingly impossible situations and the harebrained plans of escape and sucess that all too often miracoulsy worked.
But you and I both know, don't we, Rose, that the Doctor is worth the monsters.
Reinette hadn't been wrong.
Rose reached the resturant, and laughed again, as the Doctor rushed back over to hold open the door. "Losing your manners" she teased as they walked over to the table. As the Doctor looked over the menu, Rose couldn't help but stare, just a little, at him sitting there. It was kind of funny actually. It was rare that they did something so, well, so normal. Just sitting in a Chinese place, eating lunch, It was odd.
What are you getting?
Rose flashed him a dazzling smile as she pinched the menu from his hands. "The Lo Mein looks good. What about you?"

Running was what made the duo so special in the first place. They ran everywhere fighting monsters, seeing stars, planets, and the alike. It was such a wondrous place. Rose was naïve on the vastness of it all. The Doctor only showed her a mere preview of the universe. There was so much more to show her yet with the TARDIS down it seemed that things were not going to be so pretty in the end. Danger was only a segment of the issue; they solved all sorts of universal errors from this universe to others beyond the imaginations of scientists today. Sure theories regarding parallel worlds were just beginning to be pulled out of the bag yet there were so many loopholes across the field like how to prove Sting Theory for one thing. So many things Humans had yet to learn, Time Lords had the right idea from square one however Time Lords couldn’t spill the secrets of the universe to mankind. It was one of those things Humans would just have to figure out on their own.
“Rude not ginger,” he replied to her. Old memories filled in his head off when he first acknowledged this fact. It was true as well as the Doctor was rude, stubborn, brilliant, and many other things yet he was never ever ginger. Perhaps it was the universes’ curse on him. So many things he knew, yet there were so many he could never grasp like the reason why he was never ginger or the surprises of his future that were yet to be unraveled to him.
She took the menu from his hands and the Doctor beamed at her choice. “Sounds good to me; nothing like the makings of String Theory in edible form.” The thought occurred to him that she might not understand this concept as it was a little farfetched, even for some of the greatest scientists in the world. “Basically the entire universe is made up of stings. Picture the Earth…” he took out his space pen from his pocket and began to doodle on the back of the placemat. “Okay so this circle here is the Earth. We are here.” He drew an arrow pointing to a dot on in the circle. “So a sting is smaller than an atom. If the Earth was an atom, the sting would be about the size of---oh I dunno that tree over there.” He pointed outside the window. The tiny dot on the picture meant nothing now compared to the even smaller tree.

Rude, not ginger
Rose grinned as memories came back. That seemed to be happening a lot tonight. It was bound to happen too, and wasn't all bad. These were off those first few days she'd had with the new Doctor. She remembered her panic at the regeneration, the confusion, and her refusal to accept this new man as the old one. At the time, she'd had no idea what was happening. This man, who talked and acted like the Doctor, but didn't look anything like the man she had loved? How could she accept that? How could she get her head around that? But thank goodness, she'd managed to, and she'd grown, however she sometimes wished she hadn't, to love the new man maybe even more than she had the old. No, not maybe. She did grow to love him more.
Bringing herself back to reality, she was lost for a moment as she tuned back into what the Doctor was saying. Something about stings, but also the universe. She shook her head, a smile playing on the edge of her lips as she watched him get excited about the topic, and begin guesturing wildly, before beginning to draw on the back of the placemat. She let him continue until he stopped for a breath, then cut in.
"I have absolutley no idea what you're on abou, but I'm guessing it's not bee stings." she said, the grin pulling on the corners of her mouth again. "Do you want the Lo Mein?"

“Bee stings? Bee stings? When did the bees ever bother you eh? I was going on about STRING THEROY! String Theory. You know stings, like yarn… like oh I dunno Miss Marble. Met Agatha Christy by the way, nice women. Brilliant, always betted she was brilliant.” He offered her a weak smile. Ah good times indeed why did Rose have to miss out on everything? Oh that’s right it was because she got speared away into a parallel universe of all things. The Doctor mused where she got sting from. Maybe she just wasn’t paying attention to what he was saying. After a while he asked. “Did you know bee’s are not really originated from Earth?”
What? Oh right lunch. His stomach growled. The Doctor was hungry. “Yeah,” the pinstriped Time Lord told the lovely blond haired women across from him. Rose was beautiful, there was no doubt about that. Besides he loved her and was not really paying attention himself. His mind was off in la la land pondering about how she couldn’t wrap her head around String Theory. Then again it was a little far out and a little bit sci fi for real science. The Doctor knew some things that Earth physicists didn’t know and didn’t want to argue with them. Yet he did enjoy some of their nonsense in the physical world. What he really wanted was for Rose to be able to learn a thing or two. He half expected she would by traveling with him, yet maybe he overestimated humans again. It was a possibility.
Waving a hand he got the waitress’s attention and ordered in Chinese –just because he could two lo miens, an order of egg rolls, and two egg drop soups. Okay it was a little over the top but they were celebrating right? The waitress seemed happy he could speak her tongue and wrote it all down in Kanji. The Doctor watched her do so and slouched back in his seat as she left them alone. “So what exactly did I miss in ginger bread world?”

When did the bees ever bother you eh? I was going on about STRING THEORY!
"Oh. String theory. Not sting. I thought you said sting. I still don't see the relevance." she added with a teasing grin. She felt a little silly. She could tell he was suprised that she didn't get what he was going on about, but come on. She'd not passed senior science. How would she get this. Travelling with the Doctor though, you got used of it.
Did you know bee’s are not really originated from Earth?
Rose grinned again. Here we go. "Where'd they come from then? She asked, deciding to play along with his rambling. He'd tell her anyway, and she was actually curious. Not from earth? How many earth species were actually native on earth?
So what exactly did I miss in ginger bread world?
"Ginger bread world? So it's that now. I thought it was 'Pete's' world. " her teasing smile stopped, and her face became serious as she remembered why she was here in the first place. She'd been so caught up in her excitement and joy at finding the Doctor, she'd forgotten. "Somethings going on, with the rift we think. We can't be sure. We don't have the tools to measure it in London, and we can't get a hold of Cardiff. We think somethings happened to them, and we can't stop whats happening. They're trying to fix it, and we were hoping, if it was happening here, we could get some idea of what was happening back in that dimension."
She bit her lip. But if anyone could help, it would be the Doctor.
