Elizabeth Wright looked down that the scrap of paper in her hand. On it had an address, from the company in Canary Wharf that had offered her a job in their Cardiff branch. She had no idea how they found her, or what exactly they wanted her to do, but if she were to stay in this place, she needed a job. With her degrees and such, it was proving a lot harder than she'd been expecting to find one too.
However, this place didn't look like it needed a doctor. If anything, it needed a renovation.
She'd followed the directions, and the address she been given had led her to this slightly run down tourist information centre in Cardiff bay. They had to be the wrong directions, she thought to herself as she checked her reflection in the spotless windows on her way in. Her blonde hair was tamed for once, in gentle waves rather than its normal riot of curls, and she was dressed neatly in tight jeans and a jacket. She didn't believe in dressing up for interviews. Better they see what they're getting from the start.
She pushed open the door, sure she was going to make a fool of her self. It definitley had to be the wrong address. She rand the bell on the unattended counter, hoping they may at least be able to direct her to the right place, and turned to look at the paphlets and such along the wall. After a few minutes she was beginning to wonder if anyone was coming at all, when a sound behind her made her jump, and spin around.

[ sorry, no fancy banner yet. XD ]
It had been a rather slow day at the Hub, so most of the members were either at home or out about the town. For Ianto Jones however, he was almost always on duty. There wasn’t anything keeping him really, other than the fact that there was nothing better to be done. He was in the back room of the tourist shop front for the company, cleaning one of the several coffee machines that were there.
Smiling to himself, he had the radio playing a soft, barely audible tune that he was pretending to hum to. And since he was so mindless cleaning the metallic device, and not expecting anyone, when the door opened he jumped in surprise. He didn’t drop anything, but there was now a rather rude smudge on the silver surface that he’d have to buff off later. With a silent groan Ianto put on his “people smile” and walked through the beads that lead from his private office to the actual tourist place.
He was mildly surprised to see a rather blonde female whirl to get a look at him, at least he managed to gain his composure. With a kinder, more relaxed smile, Ianto leaned gently against the countertop, dressed in a nice black suit jacket, pants, with a navy blue undershirt and a lighter blue and black stripped tie.
“Hello there,” Ianto said pleasantly, giving her a small wave before letting his hand fall gently onto the tabletop and started tapping his fingers silently on the desk, “can I help you with something? I’m Ianto Jones by the way, and you are…?” he left his sentence hanging, looking at the female with currently blue-green eyes. He smiled charmingly. [/size][/blockquote]

Elizabeth bit her lip as she saw a man, dressed in a suit and shirt appear from the room behind the counter, and tugged at her jacket, suddenly self-conscious in her street clothes. Maybe she should have dressed up after all. She shook her head and grinned at the man, Ianto he said. Interesting name. She liked the way it rolled off her tounge.
"Elizabeth Wright. But please, just Liz, or Beth, or anything. The full thing is too much of a mouthful." she made sure no one used the whole thing. Come on, it was four sylablles! The only one who called her Elizabeth was her mother.
She was silent for a moment as the man asked her if he could help her with something, feeling like an idiot. This was so far from a medical centre it wasn't funny/ Well, at the moment it wasn't funny. Maybe later when it had been sorted out. God, the company in Canary Wharf probably didn't exist.
That would be so like her, to end up at the hard end of a prank.
She grinned, her eyes flitting to the ground again, still self conscious nad fully aware that she was probably making a fool of herself. "Look, I was given this address, and told that you needed a medic here. I think it might have been the wrong address, but could you at least direct me to the right place, or tell me if I was just gulible and stupid." After a moment she realised she'd left out a crucial point of information. "Oh, the people that gave me the address, they said they were in Canary Wharf, and that you would know who they were. I have been stupid haven't I?"
She was such and idiot. How could someone so intelligent be so stupid?!

Ianto smiled as she introduced herself. He gave a small, companionable chuckle as she told him that her name was too long, “You should hear my nicknames,” Ianto said, he paused and looked serious for a moment, “No, on second thought, you don’t want too.” He grinned, this was a major part of why he loved his job, being out and around with other people.
He smiled, noticing without commenting that she was dressed in street clothing, with a small pang he remembered the Owen would often do the same thing. His eyes were downcast for a little while, thinking about their now-dead (well, in Owen’s case, re-dead) former teammates.
He looked back up with a smile still on his face as she started to talk again. But as she went on his eyes hardened. A medic? Was Torchwood One trying to get back on their good side? Jack had already severed all connections with the other Torchwood Institutes, so now he was curious as to why they were sending down someone who hadn’t had a lick of experience to help them out. “Canary Warf, you say?” He asked as nonchalantly as he could, “Hm, well. Believe it or not you’re in the right place.” He was going to have to go to Jack on this one – Ianto had just gone from being in shallow warm water to cold deep water.
“We weren’t expecting you,” he paused, then rushed on as if he’d forgotten something, “Uh, so soon. Perhaps you should meet the Boss.” Ianto reached a hand under the tourist table and locked the door behind Liz. Next he pushed another button and the secret door down into the Hub opened. He stood next to it, looking cheerful, “After you Ms. Wright.”

Liz raised an eyebrow. She was getting the distinct feeling that the mention of this canary wharf place, whatever it was, wasn't so welcome. However, she stopped worrying as the neat man, Ianto, she musn't forget that, continued on. She looked around the little shop as he mention that she was indeed in the right place. "This doesn't look like it needs a med-oh" she stopped mid-sentence as a secret and rather thick steel (she guessed) door opened in the wall beside the small desk. "That's different." She could have sworn her voice was up at least half an octive. Who kept a secret door in their tourist shop? She guessed she was about to find out, as Ianto indicated for her to lead. She began down the steps, finding herself quickly into a dingy hall, with stone walls and poor lighting. "So what exactly do you do here." she called back as they walked. "They were a bit sketchy on details when they offered me the job." Sketchy was an understatment. They'd not told her anything. She was starting to see why, as the hall continued. If anything, Liz was starting to get a little worried. There could be anything down here. Maybe she should have told someone she was coming. But who was she supposed to have told?

Ianto smiled pleasantly at her when she broke off her comment as the door opened. It was one of his favorite things to do, he could still very clearly remember Gwen had first shown up with a box of pizza in her hands demanding to give it to Jack. A remembrance smile played on his face as he was reminded of that once again with Liz. He nodded his head in agreement with her, quickly adjusting his tie so it was a little looser and smiled.
“Yes, well, you could say we uh, excel at different,” he told her with kind smile. So it looked like Canary Warf hadn’t told her anything. Ianto sighed, he knew just how she felt – he’d felt the same way in the beginning. They all had, well… maybe not Jack. Him being from the 51st century and everything. It kinda gave him an advantage over everyone else, not to mention that he couldn’t die. Ianto gave himself a mental shrug as Liz too her place as lead and walked down the dim hallway.
As their footsteps rang off the loud walls he listened to her question and smiled, “Well,” he said, thinking, “Usually I make coffee for the group, clean up after them, and just, on principle, know everything.” He flashed her a witty grin, “But what our uh, Instutute does… well, I think you had better see that for your self, you’d never believe me otherwise.” He grinned at her as they stood behind a circular door. With a grin he opened the door and indicated that she should go in first. “Ms. Wright, welcome to Torchwood Cardiff’s Hub.”
[ shall we continue in the Main Hub, or here? :D ]
